What this site is

The China Atlas publishes entry rules and practical requirements for travel in China, in English, German and Italian. Each version is written for its own reader rather than translated, because the rules themselves differ by nationality.

Every figure and every rule is attributed to the official notice it comes from, with the date that notice carries. Where something could not be verified, the text says so instead of filling the gap.

No paid placement

This site carries no advertising, no affiliate links and no sponsored content. Nothing on it earns a commission if you buy a product it names, and no company has paid to appear or to be left out.

Photographs

Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons. Each one is credited in its caption, with its author and the licence it is used under. Images under CC BY-SA are shared on the same terms.

Data protection

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, carries no tracking and embeds nothing from a third party. Its typefaces are served from this domain rather than fetched from Google, so loading a page sends your address to nobody but the host.

What remains is what every web server records: the hosting provider, Vercel Inc., logs each request with the IP address it came from, the time, the page requested and the browser string. That is personal data. It is processed to operate the site and keep it secure, on the basis of legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, and it is not used to profile anyone, combined with anything else or passed on.

You may ask what is held about you, have it corrected or erased, object to its processing, and complain to a supervisory authority.
